NOTICE: Expected Delays at West Coast Ports

June 9, 2023

Dear Business Partner,

The recent disruptions at the ports of LA/LGB and Oakland have impacted the terminals operations. In Southern California, labor is available, but not all labor is reporting to work causing delays in export and import. Vessels that have completed their operations are unable to depart. This is impacting export cargo directly, as goods are stranded on the vessels. We can expect vessels to quickly back up at anchor unless the berth space is made available by departing vessels in the coming days. In Northern California and the PNW, labor is being dispatched. However, while productivity levels have improved somewhat, they are not yet back to normal levels.

The ports management continues to negotiate with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) leadership in good faith, however the job actions may impact that progress. The U.S. Administration remains informed of ILWU labor actions and the negotiations.

Our team will keep you informed of any updates as soon as new information becomes available.
